Random Palaeo-Work ideas of the Day #20

Chromosaurs I did promise such a thing in the Chromosaurus quicky.... so here you go! A throwback to 1980's science fiction works and cartoons in particular, a story about tribes of robot dinosaurs and their struggle to live, and that includes fighting amost one another, but also . Our main one we follow are naturally the T. rexes, but others include: Sauropods Ceratopsids Hadrosaurs Raptors Wings An animated film set in the Jurassic about the first  Archeopteryx  and his attempts to learn how to fly despite his flock ridiculing him so much. However, in a fiery climax as a volcano erupts, his flight saves him and fluies away to found the lineage. It's gonna be one of those where dinosaurs that lived in seperate areas and times (mostly each stage of the Late Jurassic what is now Europe and Asia) are in the same ecosystem and have a cartoonish art style, and yes I known Archeopteryx wasn't much of a flyer itself, though there will be plenty of getting accuracy right, such as ...

Random Palaeo-Work ideas of the Day #7

Today for Random Palaeo-Work idea of the Day, we're gonna do something different, and mostly do museum exhibits. Ichthyosaurs: Age of Sea Dragons As mentioned in my previous post on how I'd redo the Royal Ontario Museum's fossil dinosaur galleries, I suggested that the marine Jurassic fossils be replaced and put into storage, but also they go to their own exhibit. Well here it is. Layout The main layout of the exhibit would be as a Walk Through Time representing different periods of the mesozoic, with each section of it focusing on a different aspect of these marine reptiles. #1 Introduction - The first fossil discoveries of ichtghyosaurs in England, naturally bringing up Mary Anning. # 2 Origins in the Triassic (China and BC) - The evolution of early ichthyosaurs. # 3 Giants from the Deep (either Shastasaurus  or  Shonisaurus as centrepiece) - Covers the giant ichtyosaurs of the Triassic, and to a lesser extent how they as a whole swam via the fins. # 4 Cutting-Edge Hun...

Sea Rex review

We all have our memories of seeing palaeo-documentaries, whether in theatres on online. Today we review one such I was obsessed with seeing back in the day, Sea Rex: Journey to a Prehistoric World . We're reviewing it because around the time I wrote this I lately developed an oceanic obsession and watched both this, National Geographic's Sea Monsters (that hopefully will come up later), and listening to Moana songs. The film runs down the history of the Mesozoic's marine reptiles and touches upon the scientific history of them, in particular using Georges Cuvier and the famous Maastricht Mosasaurus hoffmani . Georges himself appears courtesy of Richard Rider in the film's framing device, where he co-hosts with Julie, a woman played by Chloe Hollings (the future voice of Widowmaker) in an aquarium as he explains things to her and audience. Its not clear if he's his ghost or a figment of her imagination, and the film doesn't seem to explain it either way. We get...
